Nasi katok

Some say nasi katok does not provide the proper nutrition we need, but hey it all goes out to any other snacks that we eat occasionally or in some cases for daily consumption. Again, what is the proper nutrient implied in this millennium ya? The food in the market we have today seems dubious of its healthiness anyway. Can we blame ourselves for being labelled as the most obese nations in South East Asia? On the bright sunny side, my China friends enjoy the privilege of cheap, fulfilling and apparently over the top delicious food. Beside that, we offer a market for the less fortunate to sustain by living on nasi katok for instance. By less fortunate, it was in reference to the foreign blue collars whom may want to save for their family, and would rather suppress their taste bud for something relatively overpriced entrée.

On a more enthusiastic note, the 18th was such a memorable event as I visited the first nasi katok stall in Brunei. Not exactly a stall, but a proper home. Apparently, it is located in Mabuhai area and still in operation. SHOCK! We stopped by to get some! The obvious reason it's so called "nasi katok" because one needs to knock on the door to purchase nasi katok, which i feel has loss its valuable meaning now. Masa ani, OI BUNG NASI KATOK SATU! Inda payah lagi bekatuk. I swear at one point of time I heard the rumour of the market for nasi bell. Ada ada saja bah ahh..

So, with all excitement, I took a photo of the place, with two of the night cruisers members (Andrea and Fang Fang),ordering two nasi katok original. Pretty good they said.

Knock knock!
